Celebrate National Dog Day at The Whitney

National Dog Day is coming back on August 26th, and that means that we all need to figure out how we are going to celebrate the lovable animal that is the canine. For non-owners, National Dog Day was started by a popular author and activist to raise awareness around the value of adopting and rescuing, of which there is much. And for owners, it’s a great day to celebrate your pup.

Boston is a fantastic place for travelers with dogs they want to celebrate — either this August or throughout the given year!

Pet Travelers Are Welcome at The Whitney

If you’re a traveler with a pet coming to Boston, then you might want to consider The Whitney Hotel, which is designed to be an urban sanctuary for you and your companion. Our Whitney Wags program features special experiences and products for your dog, designed by local artisans and dog specialists. We’re talking gourmet treats, fluffy dog beds, and even a special Whitney Bandana.

Visit Polkadog Bakery

Our guests traveling with pets are also treated to complimentary treats from local establishment Polkadog Bakery. If you’re a fan of these natural, handcrafted dog treats and birthday cakes, you can easily visit a Polkadog Bakery location while you’re in town, with there being one by the Boston Public Market, another in the South End, and more around town.

Take a Walk Along the Esplanade

The Whitney Hotel Boston is just a short walk to the gorgeous shores of the Charles River. There, you can find the Esplanade, which is a coastal parkway with long-running grassy fields, a famous amphitheater named the Hatch Shell, as well as a number of long docks from which you can sit and admire Cambridge across the way.

Check Out The Boston Common

Another awesome nearby park where you can take your dog while traveling in Boston is the Boston Common — America’s oldest park. Here there are big grassy lawns where you and your pooch can lay down and bask in the sun. Next door is the Boston Public Garden with awesome trees and plants from all over the world, a gorgeous pond, statues, and more.

Check Out Some Boston Dog Parks

Not too far from The Whitney Hotel Boston, you can let your pooch off the leash at the Ruff North End Dog Park, which is located in the DeFilippo Playground. There are also great dogs and spaces at the Carleton Court Dog Park, and South Boston Bark Park.
