A Pet-Friendly Stay in Boston
Boston is a city made for walking. Historic streets, neighborhood parks, waterfront paths, and local cafés all sit within easy reach, making it just as enjoyable for your dog as it is for you.
Here at The Whitney Hotel, we love seeing guests head out each morning with a leash in one hand and a coffee in the other, ready to explore Beacon Hill together. With furry friend-approved amenities waiting back at the hotel and plenty to discover just outside our doors, it’s easy to turn a getaway to Boston into a trip you’ll both enjoy.
Every Stay Comes with a Few Extra Tail Wags
Traveling with your dog should feel just as effortless as traveling on your own. That’s the idea behind Whitney Wags, our pet program, created to make every member of the family feel welcome from the moment you arrive.
Inside your room, you’ll find thoughtful touches designed with pets in mind, including gourmet treats and a plush dog bed to help them settle in. The Whitney Hotel welcomes up to two pets per guest room for a $125 fee per stay, with designated pet-friendly accommodations located on the second floor.
We also host seasonal pet programs throughout the year, so be sure to check our Experiences page before your stay to see what’s on the calendar. If your pet needs any extra care during your stay, Charles Street Animal Clinic is right outside our door, so peace of mind is never far away,
Discover Boston One Walk at a Time
One of the best things about staying in Beacon Hill is that you never have to venture far to find somewhere beautiful to explore.
Boston Common and the Public Garden are just a short walk away, making them an easy first stop after breakfast. Take your time with wide walking paths, shady lawns, and plenty of room to wander. While your pup sniffs out their new surroundings, take in the Public Garden’s colorful flower beds and iconic Swan Boats.
Up for more adventure? Head toward the Charles River Esplanade. Stretching for miles along the waterfront, it’s one of Boston’s favorite places to walk, with paved paths, open green spaces, and skyline views along the river.
Looking for something a little unconventional? During the warmer months, the Dog Days of Summer Cruise offers a chance to experience Boston from the water together. Cruise past the city’s skyline, the Seaport District, Logan Airport, and the historic USS Constitution while learning more about Boston Harbor. Your pup will love the fresh sea breeze, and you’ll have picturesque memories to cherish.
A Neighborhood That Loves Dogs
Beacon Hill is known for its cozy, welcoming feel, and that extends to our local businesses. Around nearly every corner, you’ll find somewhere happy to greet your dog with a bowl of water and maybe a treat or two.
One of our favorite stops is Paws on Charles, just a few minutes from The Whitney. It’s a quaint neighborhood pet shop where you can pick up essentials like food, treats, or a new leash. While you’re there, browse premium treats and toys, plus some fun extras like Boston bandanas, Red Sox plushies, and even dog ice cream to cool off on a hot day.
As part of our Neighborhood Passkey Program, guests also receive 10% off their purchase and a complimentary dog biscuit.
Celebrate National Dog Day at The Whitney
There’s no better time to plan a stay with your four-legged companion than during National Dog Day. Throughout August, The Whitney is celebrating our furry guests with special experiences, thoughtful amenities, and canine-inspired cocktails that give back.
Every dog checking in during August will be welcomed with a complimentary Zoomie Wipe from our partners at Cleo&Hooman, offering a refreshing clean after the journey before they settle into their stay.
While you’re here, stop by Peregrine for Sips for Pups, a month-long cocktail program featuring espresso martinis crafted with Cleo&Hooman’s signature Pup of Joe coffee blend and Tito’s Handmade Vodka. Even better, every cocktail purchased throughout August helps support pets in need, with $1 from each specialty cocktail donated to the MSPCA.
The celebration culminates on National Dog Day, August 26, with our Dog Days of Summer event from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Hotel guests and local Beacon Hill residents are invited to gather in The Whitney courtyard for an evening celebrating our four legged friends, complete with special treats for pups and food and beverage specials for their humans.
